Apothecary Cosmetic Perfume Oils

Home

All recipes are mixed into 1/8 cup carrier oil such as jojoba, apricot, grapseed, almond etc. All recipes are given in "parts" in other words parts of the whole essential oil used. It is suggested that you test all oils that are new to you to make sure you are not allergic to them. Place a drop on the inside of your elbow, do not wash it off for 24 hours. If no rash, etc. appears, use it! Add scents a drop at a time and adjust to your own liking. These recipes are from my book of shadows, some of them are original, some are from various books, but may have been altered to suit my tastes. Most of the books I've read on the subject are listed in the "related book section". Source is given where known.

These oils can be used on the body, for anointing candles etc.

Five Essential Oils to Kick Start Your Energy
Providing a healthier dose of energy than caffeine, essential oils can transform you from lethargic to lively in a matter of seconds.

Scientific studies have shown that when you inhale, the smell receptors located in your nose send impulses to your brain. Energizing scents like citrus, "greens," or spices that are generally top notes are made of fast-moving molecules that have an immediate affect.

The next time you're in a morning rush and don't have time for your coffee, simply inhale a bottle of one of the blends below. You will instantly feel invigorated, clear-minded, and ready to start your busy day.

1. GRAPEFRUIT will leave you feeling revived, refreshed, and recharged in just a few seconds!
Blend it with... ...any other citrus oil (orange, bergamot, mandarin, lemon) or "green" essential oils like rosemary, peppermint, or basil. Try blending it with florals like ylang ylang, rose, or jasmine for a sensual pick-me-up!

2. LEMON will help you feel energized, revitalized, and renewed.
Blend it with... ...any other citrus oil (orange, bergamot, mandarin, lemon) or "green" essential oils like rosemary, peppermint, or basil. Try blending it with florals like ylang ylang, rose, or jasmine for a sensual pick-me-up!

3. GINGER will make you feel more grounded and ready to take action in your life, geared up to tackle your everyday endeavors.
Blend it with... ...any citrus essential oils (orange, bergamot, mandarin, lemon, grapefruit), woods (cedarwood, sandalwood) to enhance groundedness, or florals (rose, jasmine, ylang ylang) to light up your sexual spirit!

4. ROSEMARY is a good choice for when you want to be bold and fully ready to take action to make things happen.
Blend it with......any citrus essential oils (orange, bergamot, mandarin, lemon, grapefruit), lavender for emotional comfort, spices (cinnamon, ginger, clove) for a more energizing and revitalizing experience, or "greens" like bay leaves to help you move forward in your life.

5. PEPPERMINT will give you an immediate pick-me-up.
Blend it with......any citrus essential oils (orange, bergamot, mandarin, lemon, grapefruit), "greens" like basil or lavender for emotional balance. Avoid spices because of their energetic opposition ("cold" versus" heat").

ALL HALLOWS' EVE FRAGRANCE
Dried Flowers and Herbs
1 cup calendula flowers
1 cup spearmint leaves
Essential Oils
20 drops cinnamon oil
15 drops sandalwood oil
Fixative
¼ cup mixed ground cinnamon and ground cloves
Textured Elements
2 cups dried apple pieces
½ cup sandalwood chips
½ cup broken cinnamon sticks
¼ cup whole cloves
¼ cup calamus root
Finishing Touches
½ cup honeysuckle blossoms
½ cup gilded acorns
¼ cup toadstools
¼ cup black bat and silver moon confetti

Loaded with nuts, pods, berries, and spices, this blend makes the perfect hostess gift for all autumn celebrations. Fill a pumpkin shell and tie it up with a silky, honey-colored ribbon and a couple of cinnamon sticks for a festive touch. Scrumptious!

NOTE:
HONEYSUCKLE = An ancient vine of waysides and tangled woodlands, honeysuckle is also known as goat's leaf and woodbine. The lovely, caramel-colored, trumpet-shaped blossom is intensely sweet. Bees, hummingbirds, and deer all love the delectable nectar. Because it was often thought of as an aphrodisiac, parents forbade young girls to sleep in a room with honeysuckle: They feared it would inspire lustful dreams! Honeysuckle was another favorite of Shakespeare's; he wrote of it in describing the fairies' revelries on midsummer's eve, when the intoxicating fragrance `lulled fairies into dancing and delight."

TOADSTOOLS = Fairy rings are often seen deep in the woodlands, surrounded by large, luminous, mysterious mushrooms. Combined with their rapid growth, toadstools have led people to believe that they belong to the fairies.
The common toadstool is in some places called pixie stool; another species of fungus in known as pixie puff. In Shakespeare's Tempest, we find a reference to pixie rings:
"You demi-puppets that
By moonshine do the green sour ringlets make,
Whereof the ewe not bites, and you whose pastime
Is to make midnight Mushrooms, that rejoice
To hear the solemn curfew."
The red fly agaric is considered the most sacred toadstool; its poisonous, hallucinogenic extracts are said to induce wicked visions and wild dancing! ! !
