"Statsheet" is a word that spreads terror
among the members of our RPG. As Frenzy deftly (or perhaps daftly) put it,
the statsheet is "That thing from hell." No one exactly likes
the statsheet. Yet it is a important part of our game.
The statsheet was originally designed by Bryan
Blaire, and has been updated by Frenzy many times. In its current state,
it declares what talents and what skills you are very good at, and what
you can do in a general sense. The statsheet comes in two versions: there
is the Microsoft Word version done by Frenzy, and there is the version
that is posted on the site here. Both in the Microsoft word version and
the online version, there is a set of instructions, and a form to fill
out.
The basic instructions for creating your statsheet
are as follows:
Your statsheet is divided into sections. Each section
covers a different aspect of your character, and the points you put into
abilities in one are not interchangable. Ask Frenzy if you have questions.
They are as follows:
Traits:
Each starting character is given 38 Trait points to distribute in the
8 Physical Traits. They can be distributed however you desire, but no
character can start with a Trait higher than a 6. The scale of physical
traits runs from 0-10. (for human characters. Non-human? Contact the GM)
Nobody can have a 0 in any of the physical traits.
If a character wishes to channel, he/she must subtract
8 Trait points from the 38 they are given for Traits. At this point, they
gain 21 Trait points to distribute among the 7 One Power areas with the
following restrictions:
- No starting character can have any values of
One Power categories higher than a 5 at the start.
- For males, One Power Dexterity, Water and Air cost 1.5 points per point
wanted in that category. For example, if a male wants to have 4 points
in Water, he must spend 6 of the 21 that
he is given. For females, One Power Strength, Earth and Fire cost 1.5
points for each point wanted. For example, for a female channeler to have
5 points in One Power Strength (lower Forsaken class), it would cost her
7.5 points.
OP Strength determines the amount of a Power you
can channel. OP Dexterity determines the complexity of your weaves. The
Five Powers determine your affinity for each of the Powers. A balance
is necessary. Someone with 8 OPS & OPD, but 1 in the Five Powers has
the strength & ability to channel well, but lacks the knowledge to
do anything with it. Conversely, someone with a 1 in OPS & OPD and
8 in the Five Powers has the knowledge, but not the ability.
Talents:
You are given 8 points to put into Talents. You can never take more than
2 Major Talents and 5 Minor Talents. Also, no beginning character can
take a rating in a Talent higher than a 2. Auxiliary Talents are those
Talents you get for free if your skill levels are high enough, or you
pay for another Talent. They don't count towards your maximum number of
Talents, so you can have any or all of them with no penalty. Talents are
on a 5 point scale, with 1 being beginner and 5 being master.
Skills:
Each starting character has 28 skill points to distribute among up to
10 skills. There are 2 types of skills: Combat Skills and Non-Combat Skills.
No skill may start out at higher than a 5. If you have 4 points in a skill,
you may select one specialization, and when you use that specialization,
you are considered to have one more skill point in that actual skill than
you really do, and your successes go up accordingly. Note: you do not
have to pick a specialization if you don't want one. Specializations are
abilities above and beyond your normal skill level in that skill. Combat
Skills are different, in that they are binary (yes/no: you have it or
you don't) and that they cost 4 skill points a piece. There is no limit
on the number of combat Skills you may possess.
Fighting Styles
Each weapon has one fighting style associated with it. If you want more,
you need to pay 5 Skill points for each. For example:
Melee Weapon: sword, level 6
Style: one-handed (free)
two-weapon (5 points)
weapon-and-shield style (5 points)
The total number of Skill points it takes to get
that is 16.
Each weapon and associated styles must be purchased
separately. There is no limit to how may fighting styles you can have.
(note: some weapons are similar, such as pole arms & Staves, etc.
by purchasing one you get the other at 2/3 ability. You don't need to
note this on your statsheet, it is implied.)
Free Points:
When you are done distributing those points, you have 22 free points to
distribute as you wish according to this formula:
7 Free Points = 1 Trait Point to distribute, including One Power traits
5 Free Points = 1 Talent Point to distribute
2 Free Points = 1 Skill Point to distribute
1 Free Point = 1 point to put into Pattern Gifts, and Strengths &
Weaknesses.
Strengths & Weaknesses:
Weaknesses maybe taken to give you extra Free Points equal to the point
value of the Weakness. No more than 16 total extra Free Points may be
acquired this way, and the GMs will see to it that all Weaknesses are
role-played accordingly, or you will be stripped of the extra points as
they see fit. Strengths and Pattern Gifts may be taken by putting in Free
Points equal to the level of the Strength/Gift.
Miscellaneous:
A character may NEVER have more than one 10 or 9 (no 10's and two 9's
is acceptable) on his/her character, and most will not even be allowed
that. Also, no character will ever have a 10 in any place on a statsheet
if another character already has a 10 there, which would have to have
been approved by a GM to start anyway. The only exception is if it's in
a skill, and only then are there allowed 2 characters OR NPCs that have
10s in any particular skill in the game.
A character will grow and change during the course
of the game. To reflect this, a character is awarded a certain number
of free points every time he/she advances a level in the game. These levels
are (female/male/non-channeler):
1) An'isai/Asha'isai
2) Novice/Soldier/Shield
3) Accepted/Dedicated/Protector
4) Aes Sedai/Asha'man/Gaidin
5) Sitter/Least M'hael/Master Gaidin
6) High Sitter/Lower M'hael/Captain of Arms
7) Keeper/Lesser M'hael/Master of Arms
8) Amyrlin/M'hael
Each level advancement comes with more points to
distribute. Here are the level ups:
2) 42 Free points, one 'Goodie'
3) 50 Free points
4) 68 Free points, one 'Goodie'
5) 49 Free points
6) 49 Free points, one 'Goodie'
7) 55 Free points
8) 40 Free points, one 'Goodie'
Goodies:
Goodies are special items that are your character's property. They can
be power-wrought weapons, cuendillar objects, angreal, ter'angreal, Shadow-wrought
items, fancloth items, etc. All goodies must be approved by the GM. (note:
sa'angreal are also considered goodies, but they aren't allowed in the
game with 4 notable exceptions, and those items are never used.)
Warders:
Characters bonded as Warders get the following upgrades:
+1 Endurance (note 'Warder' on your statsheet)
Light Sleeper (2 point strength)
Berserker (when bondee is in mortal danger) (2 point strength)
Sense Shadowspawn (2 point strength)
Vengeful (when bondee is killed) (3 point weakness)
Warder Bond (3 point Weakness)
+1 Weapon level (note 'Warder' on your statsheet)
These general instructions apply to the lists of
skills and points. These lists are also divided into categories. The Microsoft
Word version of the list of skills has the above instructions included.
Online List
This is a list of the different traits that
you can put on your statsheet. It is very conveinient.

Microsoft Word List
This is the MSWord version of all that was listed
above, and the list of traits. I reccomend downloading it for future
reference (just right click on the above link, and choose "Save
Target As" to do so. If you are on a mac, Control Click, and
do the same). |
Online Form
This is the online version of the form. It is a burden, because
you have to copy it into a text program. It is helpful only if
you dont have Microsoft Word.

Microsoft Word Form
This is the Microsoft Word version of the form.
It is very convienient, because you can just download it (by right
