BIOGRAPHY
Part one: "Dancer of the Razor's Edge" by Erith, Daughter of Iva Daughter of Alar

These accounts of the attempt to chronicle the life of the woman known as the Dark Amyrlin are far from complete. Records of her life and experiences are rare, and many of them, this author believes, are false or corrupted by personal bias. What is included in these accounts are believed to be the most accurate information available on this mysterious woman.

The Early Years
The woman known as the Dark Amyrlin was born Frenzy, the only child of House Rook, a powerful Noble House in Malkier. Her father, like all Malkieri noblemen, was a Diademed Battle Lord. Her mother was Cairheinan, of house Saighan. It is important to note that Malkieri seldom marry outside of the Borderlands, so it is highly unusual for a prominent Malkieri lord to take a Cairheinan to wife. The circumstances behind this union are unknown, but it is known that many in the Malkieri court disapproved, and disliked the foreign 'interloper.' Lord Rook remained a respected warrior, but House Rook lost favor in the Malkieri Court.
Frenzy was an exceptional child. With a Cairheinan mother, she was trained in the arts of Daes Dae'mar, also known as the Great Game or the Game of Houses. The Great Game wasn't played in the Borderlands nearly as much as in the south, but these skills were useful in a court that tried at every opportunity to "rescue" Lord Rook from the thrall of the foreign wench. They took the fact that the Lady Rook bore a daughter and not a son as a sign of the Pattern's displeasure at the union. But the Lord of Rook would not be swayed. He doted on his wife and daughter, and his reputation as a warrior kept the other Houses from challenging him. But it did not keep them from plotting.
Malkieri traditionally do not train their women in the art of combat. But as the only child of the House, Frenzy insisted on training. This training was apparently done secretly; the Lady Rook realized that the House of Rook needed to keep all aberrations from Tradition quiet. It is apparent that Frenzy's combat training was kept secret even from her own father. Frenzy disguised herself as a boy and trained with the other boys in the City. By the age of 10 Frenzy had distinguished herself as a most capable warrior, excelling in both armed and unarmed combat. Her weapon of choice was the glaive, unusual since most Malkieri prefer the sword. Frenzy also was tutored in History, Tradition, and all of the other skills that a Malkieri noblewoman was expected to know. Frenzy had but one classmate, another young noblewoman named Leanna.
With her mother teaching her the arts of intrigue, her Father teaching her the skills needed to manage the House's large estates, and her secret combat training, Frenzy was becoming a formidable young woman. In her combat training classes, Frenzy was well respected. Her peers never saw through her disguise, and accepted her as 'one of the boys.' Many of the boys in the classes were of the noble houses, so Frenzy used her skills in the Great Game to try and sway their opinion of House Rook. However, Malkieri boys are notoriously driven, and their only interest is in combat. One of her sparring partners, the young prince Akir, agreed that House Rook was being treated unjustly, but Tradition must be maintained. Frenzy and Akir became close, studying and sparring together, challenging each other. They quickly became the best students in the class. It is believed that Frenzy introduced Akir to his future bride, Leanna. Akir and Leanna were the only ones to know of Frenzy's secret, since Akir knew her in combat training, and Leanna and Frenzy shared the same history tutor.
Sometime in her early teens, Frenzy's disguise was discovered. Severely injured in a sparring match with Cowin Fairheart, she was rushed to the King's Aes Sedai advisor for Healing. The Aes Sedai was the one who discovered her secret while Healing her, and was honor-bound to inform the court of her findings. The older nobles couldn't come to grips with the fact that one of the most promising young warriors was a woman, and she was thrown in prison. The nobles saw Frenzy's secret training as a seditious act, and called for House Rook to be stripped of its lands and titles. Lord Rook, upon hearing of his daughter's actions and the response of the court, rode into the Blight and was never heard from again. Distraught at the death of her husband, the Lady Rook appeared before the entire court of Malkier. There, before the King and all the Nobles, she called down a curse. "Malkier will be destroyed from within, ravaged by those who swore to protect her. Tradition will fail, honor will fail, and Rook shall be avenged!" With these words, the Lady Rook plunged a dagger into her heart.
Frenzy was unaware of the deaths of her parents, locked away in the palace's dungeon, still reeling from the Healing. El'Leanna's personal journals state that she and Akir smuggled their former friend out of the dungeon. Given her glaive, her family's signet ring and a purse full of gold, Frenzy was spirited out of the City, and disappeared from Malkier. El'Leanna's journals tell that Frenzy was deeply hurt by what she considered Malkier's betrayal of her family. The Queen feared that this bitterness she saw in her friend would drive her mad. Her once lively friend was now a cold, emotionless woman. Except her eyes burned with an inner fury. El'Leanna's journals never again mention Frenzy. House Rook was dissolved, its estates reverting to the Crown.
Frenzy next appeared in Tar Valon. Using information from El'Leanna's journals and the White Tower's Novice Book, it appears that 2 years passed between the demise of House Rook and Frenzy's enrollment in the White Tower. What transpired in these years is a mystery. Requests to House Saighan for information have been ignored.
Frenzy was a novice for a very short amount of time, less than a year. However, she spent many years as an Accepted. Her Aes Sedai tutors found her to be an adept pupil, strong in the Power and a quick learner. However, they felt that she was emotionally unstable, and delayed her test for the shawl for many years. This emotional instability is, no doubt, caused by the loss of her family and her House. It is not known if Frenzy conquered this apparent instability before she tested for the Shawl, but it is unlikely, given her future actions. At the age of 21, Frenzy was raised to the Shawl, a member of the Grey Ajah. However, the day of her tests was the day that word of rising conflict between Arad Domon and Tarabon reached Tar Valon. Somehow in the confusion, Frenzy never took the Three Oaths on the Rod. She somehow managed to keep this a secret from her Sisters.
